The last time we were in Oregon Darcy asked me to play the hymns for him on your piano. Thank you Debbie for allowing me to play for my brother one last time! Playing the organ for my brother’s funeral and accompanying your talented son, Kevin, and grandchildren will always be a sweet, cherished memory of mine. One of the things that Darcy and I have in common is the love of music. I remember attending his high school choir performances, his high school musical West Side Story, and going to the mall at Christmas time to hear him and the madrigal singing group he was in, all dressed up in madrigal attire, perform. I was so proud of him, though I never told him. He loved music! I remember him spending a lot of time on his accordion. It takes coordination and strength to play an accordion! He did like to whistle – even as a kid. May he now join a celestial choir and continue to enjoy lots of beautiful music! May God bless you and your family and when you sing the hymns of Zion know that Darcy is singing with you!

Debbie, what a joy it was to reconnect with you again at the funeral. May I express my heartfelt condolences to you and your family at this time . May you feel the Savior's loving arms around you as you mourn your loss but feel strengthened by the knowledge of His atoning sacrifice. The funeral was a beautiful experience and I felt the spirit there as well. Thank you for raising such talented sons and daughters of God. They all did an awesome job. I am sure their dad is proud of them!

I wanted to express my heartfelt condolences to all of the Darcy's family. There's such a sense of helplessness when someone we love dies. I'd like to share some scriptural thoughts that really helps me. Prayer is so valuable at this time but it's not that prayer simply makes us feel better. 2 Cor.4:7 says that God can give us, "... power beyond what is normal ", to go from one day to the next. This does not mean that we no longer cry or that we forget, but it means we recover. The reason we recover is because of our hope. Jesus Christ talked about our hope in John 5:28, "... all those in the memorial tomb will hear his voice and come out ". Jesus was referring to the resurrection, this is our amazing hope that helps us recover and gives us power to go on. 2 Cor.1:3,4 describes our Creator as, "... the God of all comfort ". One way that God comforts us is by moving people who care about us to give us words of encouragement that we need to hear. May the God of comfort (Ps.83:18) be your comfort now during this time of sorrow.
