Bette Lou (Bracy) Grogan

Bette Lou Grogan, age 75, passed away in Hermiston, surrounded by her family on Tuesday, January 5, 2016.  She was born on June 24, 1940 in Great Falls Montana to Melvin H. Bacon and Martha G. Adams.  Bette lived most of her childhood in Colfax Washington where she attended grade school.  She attended Pendleton High School, where she enjoyed volleyball and other school activities.  She spent her senior year at Ukiah High School where she was active in student government and was an all sports cheerleader.  
Bette was married twice and had three beloved children, Tamara, Jeffrey and Dustin.  She lived in Stanfield Oregon for over 50 years, where she loved raising her kids and supporting the small community. 
Bette worked for the City of Stanfield, Termicold and finished her work career with the Umatilla Army Depot as the Commanders Secretary.  She worked with many commanders and retired with over 20 years of service.
Bette was an avid reader and loved solving crossword puzzles.  She also loved painting, shooting pool, bowling and working on the family’s mountain cabin.  Bette really enjoyed watching her grandchildren play sports and usually didn’t miss a game.
Bette was a compassionate animal lover and could never turn away a stray cat, she loved them all and they adored her in return.

Bette is survived by her longtime partner Edmund Jonas; her sons, Dusty and Jeff; daughter-in-laws, Stephenie and Laurie; grandchildren, Samuel, Quinton, Dylan, Adam and Alyson; brothers, Dusty and Ray King and many nieces and nephews.

Bette was preceded in death by her parents; sisters Donna, Dianne and Nona; brother Joe; and her beloved daughter Tamara.

A graveside celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, June 25, 2016 at 1:00 PM at Pleasant View Cemetery, Stanfield, Oregon.
