William "Bill" E Jones

William E. “Bill” Jones was born on November 14, 1923 in Joes, Colorado to parents, Alexander Bryan Jones and Bertha Coral Bennett Jones. He died on February 9, 2017 at home in Hermiston, Oregon at the age of 93 years. Bill served in the united States Army Air Force from 1943 until his honorable discharge in 1945. He spent many years working as a prospector, mining throughout the area. Bill enjoyed cribbage, playing cards, traveling, spending time with his family. He was a life member of the Halfway VFW and the Columbia Grange.

He is survived by his brothers: Harry Jones & wife Doris, Longview, WA, Franklin Jones, Woodland, WA, Galen Jones & wife Carla, Longview, WA; sisters: Elizabeth Shaw, Hermiston, OR, Doris Reid, Hermiston, OR, Edna Collyer & husband Clarence, Hermiston, OR, Sara Wilson, Waitsburg, WA; special niece: Emily Mellick, Hermiston, OR; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, a brother: Norman, and sisters: Iris and Martha.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, March 10, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at the Hermiston Cemetery, Hermiston, Oregon.

A celebration of life potluck gathering will follow at the Columbia Grange, 32339 Diagonal Road, Hermiston, Oregon.
