Joy was such a "joy" to everyone who knew her. I first met Joy in 1949 at a mutual friends house. Over the years we would visit and exchange family notes. Saw more of each other during Good Shepherd Auxially meetings. She always made you feel better after the visits. As her health declined, and after Gayle's death, she was in a care center for awhile. I think that was the last time we met. We moved to Fort Collins, Colorado to be close to family but would get notes from her sister-in-law, Regina posted on Grace and Mercy e-mail. Happy for Joy that she is now reunited with family but she will be missed in Hermiston.

Your mother had such a rare sense of humor. Once, I made a point to hurry to her side in the hospital with card in hand. Upon seeing me enter she exclaimed, "What took you so long?"
Bad news travels fast in our small town, but not that fast, not before you get there.
I'm sorry to miss her, but I am happy knowing she is no longer lost in this world.
I hope your memories of a wonderful, devoted mother comfort you until you join her and your dad in heaven.
Sincere sympathies for your loss, and God's blessings for your role as patriarch of your growing family.

Tom and Amy,
I am so sorry to hear about your mom/grandmother. She seemed like such a great lady and had an interesting life. I would be interested in reading her life story.
