Johnny Thieme was born on October 15, 1926 in Oxford, Colorado to parents, John E. and Ethel Myers Thieme. He died on August 25, 2015 at his home in Hermiston, Oregon at the age of 88 years. Johnny served in the United States Army during WWII until his honorable discharge. Johnny was united in marriage to Maxie May Zumwalt on September 7, 1949 in Arkansas. He worked at several saw mills starting in Mitchell, OR in 1949, then Eureka, CA, Reith, OR, and finally Kinzua Mill until 1966. Johnny started his career with Marlette Homes in November of 1966 and continued until 1989 when he retired as a leadman. He continued to work at Marlette and Lamb Weston as night watchman/yard guard until the early 1990's. Johnny attended the Hermiston Assembly of God Church and had been a member of the VFW and Eagles lodge. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, and reading. 

He is survived by his son: Johnny L. Thieme and wife Vickie, Summerville, OR; daughters: Connie J. Greeno and husband Robert, Pasco, WA, and P. Diane Schnell and husband John, Hermiston, OR; sisters: Jane Slaughter, Oklahoma; 9 grandchildren: David Greeno, Rachel Lind, Kris Thieme, Shawna Langley, Angela Thieme, Kent Schnell, Kyle Schnell, Robert Staples, and Satauria Whrerley; 18 great grandchildren. 

Johnny was preceded in death by his wife: Maxie, his parents, brothers: Charles, Lui; sisters: Elizabeth, Geneva.  

A celebration of life service with military honors will be held on Friday, September 4, 2015 at 3:00 P.M. at Diane and John Schnell’s home.

A private family burial will be held at the Hermiston Cemetery, Hermiston, Oregon.
