Dear Eileen:
I was so sorry to learn of Jack's passing in June. I offered Mass for him at the time. Please excuse the delay in sending this message, but know that he and you remain in my prayers. I have so many fond memories of the times we were together while I was in Hermiston, especially your anniversary Mass & reception.
Fondly,
Fr. Richard

Jack was such a kind, sweet man. He always had a smile on his face and I don't think he ever forgot a name. Whenever I saw him, he would greet me by name and ask how I was. I appreciated him so much. He will be missed.

So sorry to hear of your loss. What a beautiful obituary and tribute, as I only had the opportunity to meet him once (at Heather and Tom's wedding). He just seemed like a prince of a guy. Hugs and prayers to you all.

We had the very great pleasure of being jack and Eileen's neighbors for 13 yrs. When we bought the Logan house they were quick to come over and introduce themselves. Jack always asked after our children and even came to watch our boys play lacrosse at rocky heights. I never had to weed the property line he always took care of it. I loved our random conversations about everything. Our summer chats out by my pond. Our dsughters wedding photos were taken in his yard. When our son passed away 2 years ago he wrote me the most beautiful poem. I will remember him as long as I live. No man I've ever met before or after has been kinder than jack. My heart goes out to eileen. Love always trish and cliff

I know this is a tough time for a great family, as they have lost one of the greatest man I have had the privilege of knowing. Jack Sobotta was a mentor and supporter of mine. He had to put up with a few of our antics, as well, but he did so with grace and dignity. He provided encouragement and support. The Hermiston community is fortunate to have had Jack Sobotta as a resident, business owner and family man. He will be missed.

He was a treasure to talk with at the barbershop. Gonna miss the discussions on the various topics we seemed to cover, his knowledge was extremely deep and a lost treasure.

Our condolences to the Barnhart's and Sobotta family. We have had the pleasure of knowing Jack for many years and Josie had the pleasure of working for Hermiston Drug after high school for a few years. We are thinking of all of you in these times of sorrow knowing how tough it is to lose loved ones. Prayers are with you.
