Mr. Peck was our neighbor and friend. Surrendered his dog "Cap" to us when my sister basically took him over. Painted my portrait at about age 13. Talk about turning a sow's ear into a silk purse. He was a hero of the "greatest generation." Terry and I endlessly played "Army" with our fathers' artifacts - I remember his leather bomber jacket well, and the picture his emaciated self after captivity. A well-earned rest.
