Craig Jay Carney

Craig Jay Carney, a lifelong Hermiston, Oregon resident, was born on February 1, 1960 in Hermiston, Oregon to parents, Jay Ben Carney and Doris Lee Peckham Carney. He died on November 25, 2015 in Hermiston, Oregon at the age of 55 years. Craig was raised in Hermiston, Oregon where he enjoyed playing baseball in his younger years, playing tennis in junior high and high school, and was a devoted KISS groupie. He graduated from Hermiston High School in the class of 1978. Craig went to work at Marlette Homes right after graduation where he has continued to work for the last 37 years. He married Diane Davis and they had 3 children, Jason, Sarah, and Bret. They later divorced, although remaining close and enjoying family gatherings and going to concerts together. He was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan from an early age, remaining loyal through thick and thin. Craig cherished time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed riding his bicycle to and from work and all over town.  

He is survived by his children: Jason Carney & wife Lacey, Yuba City, CA, Sarah Ward & husband Gared, Scappoose, OR, Bret Carney & wife Jessica, Hermiston, OR; mother: Doris Boatright, Hermiston, OR; father: Jay Ben Carney & wife Bridgette, Logan, NM; sister: Brenda Stubbs, Hermiston, OR; 10 grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Craig was preceded in death by his father, Harold Boatright.

A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, December 5, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at Burns Mortuary Chapel, Hermiston, Oregon.
