William “Sherman” Hill V “McNabb” of Irrigon, Oregon was born on March 4, 1950 in Superior, Nebraska to parents, William Sherman Hill and Laura Lou Barker Hill. He died on July 23, 2015 near Starbuck, Washington as the result of a motorcycle accident at the age of 65 years. Sherman was raised by his Mom and Dad, Laura and Herbert McNabb. He attended school in Umatilla, Oregon, graduating from Umatilla High School in the class of 1969. He then served in the United States Marine Corps and was stationed in Japan and after his honorable discharge he returned to Umatilla. Sherman was united in marriage to Marcia Caster on June 5, 1976 in Pocatello, Idaho. They lived in Umatilla and later in Irrigon, Oregon. Sherman worked for Agrinorthwest in management until retiring in 2012. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, time with his grandchildren, snowboarding, golfing, traveling, going to the beach, riding bikes with his grandchildren. Sherman enjoyed and received great satisfaction out of helping others. He was a member of the Hermiston Elks Lodge 1845, the Harley Owners Group, and the Irrigon Moose Lodge.
He is survived by his sons: David Blair and wife Brandy, Umatilla, OR; Jayare Hill & wife Arielle, Irrigon, OR; daughter: Sherri Pierce & husband David, Benton City, WA; brothers: Scott Gillette, Hermiston, OR, William Gillette, Hood River, OR, & Scott McNabb, Eugene, OR; sisters: Toni Beavers, Lincoln, NE, Patricia Dunlap, Stanwood, WA, and Nancy Griffiyh, Burien, WA; 6 grandchildren: Kalei, Kaidan, Alyssa, Braden, Gavin, & Rylee; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Sherman was preceded in death by his wife: Marcia Hill, his parents, sister: Sherry Hicks, and brothers: William S. Hill II and Doug Barber.
A graveside service with military honors will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2015 at 9:00 A.M. at the Hermiston Cemetery, Hermiston, Oregon.
