Wayne E. Rietmann of Ione, Oregon, was born on May 13, 1937 in Hood River, Oregon. He died on March 22, 2021 in Hermiston, Oregon at the age of 83 years. Wayne was raised and attended schools in Ione, Oregon, graduating from Ione High School in the class of 1956. He then attended OTI in Klamath Falls, Oregon where he earned his certificate in auto mechanics. Wayne then served in the United States Army from 1960 to 1962 when he was honorably discharged and he returned to Ione, Oregon to continue farming the family farm. He was united in marriage to Vera Lou Smith on October 28, 1972 in The Dalles, Oregon. Wayne was an active member of the American Legion, was a volunteer fireman, served on the Fire District Board and spearheaded the 4th of July Fireworks show for many years. He enjoyed reading, going to the coast, gardening, and growing pumpkins to take to school for the kids. Wayne cherished spending time with his grandchildren.
 
He is survived by his sons: Ed Rietmann (Becky), Ione, OR and Len Rietmann (Karin), Pendleton, OR; brother: Harold Rietmann; sister: Juliana Frink; grandchildren: Kalvin, Keltie, Kinasyn, Konleigh, Jonathan, Liberty and Micah; numerous nieces and nephews.
 
Wayne was preceded in death by his wife: Vera and his parents David and Lucile.
 
A private family celebration will be held.

Contributions may be made in Wayne's memory to The Ione American Legion post 95 or Ione 4th of July Fireworks.
