Venita "Skeet" (Jackson) Hunter

Venita Ruth “Skeet” Hunter of Stanfield, Oregon, was born on January 7, 1934 in Camas, Washington to parents, James and Myrtle Viola (McCallister) Jackson. She died on August 28, 2023 in Kennewick, Washington at the age of 89 years. She was raised in Fall Creek, Oregon. Venita was united in marriage to Bobbie “Bob” Hunter on January 6, 1951 in Roseburg, Oregon. They lived in Salem where they owned B & D Roofing before later moving to Stanfield, Oregon in 1974 where they owned B D Hunter Roofing, their family business that included daughter Terri and sons: Mike, Larry & Randy until retiring in 1998. Venita enjoyed reading, sewing, swimming, camping as well as serving as the deer and elk camp cook.

She is survived by her children: Mike Hunter (Teresa), Pendleton, OR, Diane Evans (Dennis), La Pine, OR, Terri Bailey (Paul), Stanfield, OR, Larry Hunter (Brenda), Echo, OR, Rose Hunter, Coquille, OR, Jim Hunter (Becky), Richland, OR, Randy Hunter (Tracy), Hermiston, OR; brother: Benny Jackson, Dallas, OR; sisters: Elsie Gabrisch, Springfield, OR and Anna Massingham, Fall Creek, OR; numerous grandchildren; great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Venita was preceded in death by her husband: Bob Hunter; her parents, a grandson: Tyler Campbell and a sister: Effie Eldridge.       

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 2, 2023 at 10:00 A.M. at Burns Mortuary Chapel, Hermiston, Oregon

Burial will follow at the Pleasant View Cemetery, Stanfield, Oregon.
