Theodore John Travis

Theodore “Ted” John Travis of Umatilla was born August 19, 1953 in Ontario, Oregon the son of John and Mildred (Ray) Travis. He passed away unexpectedly at his home in Umatilla, Oregon on August 10, 2025 at the age of 71.

Ted grew up in Ontario, Oregon where he attended school and graduated from high school. He later moved to Wallowa County, Oregon where he worked for the Wallowa County Grain Growers in Enterprise for many years and lived in nearby Joseph, Oregon. He then transferred to the Union County Grain Growers Association where he worked for a time until an accident forced him to seek a different type of work. He then attended BMCC where he studied drafting. He worked as a draftsman for a short time. He moved to Prineville, OR in 1993 where he worked as a rock crusher operator for several years. He moved to Umatilla, Oregon in 2009 where he has resided for the past sixteen years.

Ted enjoyed fishing and hunting, watching football and baseball on television and enjoyed coaching a softball team when his daughter was in school in Cove, Oregon. He proudly served as a volunteer fireman when he lived in Wallowa County for many years. His family remembers Ted as a very kind, generous and patient person who will be missed by all of his family.

Ted married Suzanne Simonis in Joseph, Oregon on August 19, 1983.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Suzanne; children, Mark, Misty, Kristy, Cassandra, Angelica & Elizabeth; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; brothers, Charles and Nick; sisters, Kay, Beverly and Becky and many extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Bobby; and a granddaughter, Areceli “Cheli”.
