Sharon "Shari" Campbell Obituary

Sharon Lucille “Shari” (Price) Campbell was born on April 22, 1939 in Lansing Michigan. She died on November 5, 2023 at home in Salem, Oregon at the age of 84 years. Sharon was Miss Las Vegas in1957 and a runner up in the Miss Nevada pageant. 

Sharon was a graduate of Rancho High School in Las Vegas, Nevada. She attended University of Oregon where she met and eventually married Larry D. Campbell on August 9, 1958. They lived rurally in Echo, OR for their first several years of marriage. When it was time for their first child to go to school, they moved to Hermiston where Larry owned and operated Campbell Equipment. Sharon and Larry’s oldest children finished school in Hermiston before moving to Salem, OR  where their youngest children finished high school. Sharon and Larry also lived in Bend, Portland, West Linn and Beaverton Oregon before spending over a decade in Vancouver, WA. They returned to Salem in 2021 to be nearer family.

Her primary occupation was being a homemaker although she also happily worked as a bookkeeper, realtor and clerk.

Besides her roles as wife, sister, mother, daughter-in-law, sister-in-law, aunt and friend, Shari was an avid reader and shopper. She enjoyed antiques, sewing, knitting, playing cards and games, puzzles, crime dramas, mysteries, gossip magazines and dancing.

She is survived by her husband of 65 years: Larry Dean Campbell, Salem, OR; sister: Karen Sue (Price) Warren, of Mesquite, TX; children: Shannon Campbell Savela (Bill), Vancouver, WA, Darren Glenn Campbell, Goldendale, WA, Devin Joel Campbell (Lisa), Salem, OR, Andrew George Campbell (Carol), Kinderhook, NY, Alex Eugene Campbell (Linda), Vancouver, WA; 13 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; 4 nieces and 2 nephews. 

Shari was preceded in death by her father, Elwood C Price, who was born in New York State and worked as a carpenter and logger; her mother Hilda DeLong Viestenz, who was born in New York State and worked as a hairdresser; and her mother and father-in-law, H. Glenn and Roberta Watson Campbell of Echo, OR who were farmers. 

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 18, 2023 at 1:00 P.M. at Burns Mortuary Chapel, Hermiston, Oregon.

Burial will follow at the Hermiston Cemetery, Hermiston, Oregon.

The family welcomes all guests to a reception at Maxwell Siding Event Center in Hermiston following burial. At this reception there will be a keepsake memory book where guests who are inclined have the option to share a photograph, verse, story or drawing.

In Sharon’s memory, her family wishes contributions to be made to the Brain Aneurysm Foundation or American Alzheimer’s Association. Both organizations are of interest because Sharon survived a brain aneurysm in mid-life and from Alzheimer’s Disease considerably later or to Breast cancer.org .
