Rickie "Ric" Carr Obituary

A proud Irishman and lover of all things Celtic, Rickie (Ric) Lee Carr of Umatilla, Oregon, passed on to new adventures on March 10, 2019. He was our Dad, Son, Brother, beloved friend, and "Uncle Ric" to many.

Ric was born on December 2nd, 1962, to Ona and Richard Carr in Hermiston, Oregon. In his early years, he attended school in Pendleton, Oregon. His Mother recalls a time while he was in 3rd grade. His teacher had called his Mother asking in frustration, "why Rickie kept staring out the window, and not paying attention to a difficult math problem on the chalk board?" His Mother replied, "why don't you ask Ric himself?" So, his teacher returned to the classroom and took Ric aside and asked him. Ric replied, "I already worked out the problem in my head", and to her astonishment, had the correct answer. He apparently was bored, and wanted to see what was happening out that window. His Mother has many stories of how gifted Ric was growing up, and his love of being challenged mentally.

Ric liked to say that he was the negotiator between his younger siblings Bryan and Sandy, whom he shared many adventures with, and dearly loved.

At about age 14, Ric and his brother Bryan moved to Maui, Hawaii, where they attended school and lived with their Father Richard.

Ric then relocated back to the mainland where he worked, and attended College. He met Debra Key, and, they had two children, his beloved Alicia, and Aaric. In 1993, He met and later married Thea Shull, and they continued to enjoy raising their family, and remained close friends through the end of his life.

Ric was whip smart, and had many College Degrees, and Certifications to prove it. From Automotive, to becoming a Journeyman Industrial Maintenance Mechanic. Then acquiring his degree for Limited Maintenance Electrician, and currently working on his Industrial Engineering degree.

Ric also learned in College his love of Goldsmith/Silversmithing. He could create the most beautiful art/jewelry for family and friends. He could make each link by hand, (his favorite being Silver), and add a beautiful charm to match.

He had many talents, and a green thumb. He loved Orchids, and with his coaxing, they'd often bloom.

He had a vast Spiritual aptitude, and loved to share it with others.

Ric especially had a wicked sense of humor, mixed with being a Master of Mischief, and a Conspiracy theorist.

He had a zest for nature, fishing, camping, animals, and hanging out with his friends.

Ric always liked to share his thoughts on life, especially to his kids. He wanted them to remember two important things, "To think for yourself", and, most importantly, "STAY OUT OF MY TOOLBOX!"

Ric was preceded in death by his Father Richard T. Carr, and his brother Bryan A. Carr. He is survived by his children Alicia L. Carr (Moscow, Id.), and Aaric T. Carr (Coeur D' Alene, Id). His Mother Ona Doddroe, his former Stepfathers, Bryan Jones, and, Gary Knights. His sister Sandra Jones Price, Stepsisters Theresa Diterlizzi, and Raina Knights. Stepbrothers Tawn Knights, Shane Knights, and Tony Knights. His much loved grandson, Alexander Carr. Nephews Richard L. Carr, Christopher Jones, Casey Carr, and Garrett Grime Carr. Nieces Tara Ozment, and Emily Carr. His former wife, and close friend, Thea Carr. Ric had several great nieces, nephews, and many extended family and friends.
