Rick "Cowboy" Huxel Obituary

Richard “Cowboy” Henry Huxel
February 28, 1953 – January 21, 2024
Rick was born February 28, 1953 to parents Henry Huxel and Betty (Halliday) Huxel.  He died after a short illness in Salem, Oregon on January 21, 2024.  He grew up in Umatilla, Oregon and graduated from Umatilla High School in 1971.

Rick was a carpenter by trade and was well known for his carpentry and concrete work throughout many areas.  He enjoyed fishing, watching wrestling and was passionate with his bee keeping skills.

In 1989, he met Becky Thomson, fell in love and his life from then was forever changed.  Through this union, his family grew to include his daughter Chrissy, son Justin, grandchildren Madison, Isaiah and Henry and great grandson Skyler.  He was also survived by sisters, Debra and Darla Huxel.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Constance Thomas.

Rick will forever be remembered for being a “one of a kind” guy with a kind heart and soul.

A celebration of life will be held in Umatilla on February 28th at 5:00 p.m. at Rae’s Dayz Restaurant banquet room.
