Richard L. “Dick” Bondurant of Hermiston, Oregon, was born on December 21, 1935 in Walla Walla, Washington to parents, Joseph and Frances Parrish Bondurant. He died on September 26, 2022 in Hermiston, Oregon at the age of 86 years. Dick was raised and attended school early on in Eltopia, Washington before moving to Hermiston, Oregon and graduating from Hermiston High School in the class of 1953. He then attended EOCC in La Grande for 1 year. Dick was united in marriage to Hazel M. Nelson on December 30, 1956 in Hermiston, Oregon. He was a contractor, working in construction for most of his working career. Hazel preceded him in death in 2010. Dick married Dianna Mesa on November 21, 2015 in Hermiston, Oregon. He was an active member of the Hermiston First Christian Church, serving as groundskeeper for several years and was a member of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation. Dick enjoyed walking, reading western novels, traveling, playing pinochle, camping, and hunting. He volunteered for Habitat For Humanity, building the original Funland Park and at the Agape House. Dick was an avid supporter of his children growing up, attending their sporting events and activities and cherished time with his family.
He is survived by his wife Dianna Bondurant, Hermiston, OR; son: Cliff Bondurant & wife Kay, Vancouver, WA; daughters: Rose Neyman & husband Maurice, Portland, OR and Tonya Rymer, Triangle, VA; step sons: DN Mesa & wife Debra, Pendleton, OR and Brian Mesa & wife Dusanka, Sioux Falls, SD; sisters: Kay Justice and husband Ray, St. Helens, OR and Bonnie Marks & husband Don, Imnaha, OR; 15 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Dick was preceded in death by his first wife, Hazel Bondurant, his parents, brothers: Dave, John and Tim Bondurant and a sister, Inez Griffels.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, September 30, 2022 at 1:00 P.M. at the Hermiston Cemetery, Hermiston, Oregon.
A reception will follow at 2:00 P.M. at the First Christian Church Fellowship Hall, 775 W. Highland Ave., Hermiston, Oregon.
