Rebecca "Becky" Smolak

Rebecca “Becky” June Smolak of Depoe Bay, Oregon was born November 7, 1957 in Martinez, CA the daughter of John Charles and Osta June (Pope) Shafer. She passed away in Portland, Oregon on Wednesday March 18, 2026 at the age of 68.

She is survived by her husband, Edward Smolak; daughter, Sarah Brana; granddaughter, Ester Kittle; sister, Valorie Strickland; and many extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Osta June Shafer.

A Funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Friday March 27, 2026 at the Burns Mortuary of Hermiston (685 W Hermiston Avenue Hermiston, OR). Burial will follow in Desert Lawn Memorial Cemetery in Irrigon.

Family suggest memorial donations be flowers or contributions to Domestic Violence Services.
