Phyllis Susan Steward

Phyllis Susan Steward of Arlington, Oregon was born on April 1, 1936 in Chicopee Falls, MA and raised by her parents, Emery and Jean Clark in Seattle, Washington and later Rufus, Oregon. She died on April 24, 2026 in Hermiston, Oregon at the age of 90 years. Phyllis married Howard Steward and they moved to Arlington, Oregon in 1968 where she has lived since. She worked for a time as a cook for the Arlington School District and was also a high school volleyball referee. Phyllis was an avid supporter of her children and grandchildren’s activities and sporting events. She enjoyed traveling, camping, playing cards and Bunko, reading, crossword puzzles and riding on the back of the motorcycle as she and Howard went on many road trips. 

She is survived by her daughters: Kathy Wilkins and her husband Jeff, Arlington, OR and Connie Hampton, Lantana, TX; son: Steven Steward, Arlington, OR; 8 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren with 3 more on the way.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband, a son: Mark, a daughter: Julie, a great grandson: Cameron and her parents.

A graveside funeral service will be held on Friday, may 1, 2026 at 3:00 P.M. at the Arlington Cemetery, Arlington, Oregon.
