Maria I Gutierrez

Maria I. Gutierrez of Umatilla, Oregon, was born on May 15, 1948 in Michoacan, Mexico to parents, Armando Montes and Alvina Arias. She died on January 26, 2021 in Hermiston, Oregon at the age of 72 years. Maria was raised in Mexico before the coming to the United States for work. She worked in California and Arizona before moving to Washington. Maria settled in Umatilla, Oregon in 1982 where she has lived since. She worked in agriculture for many years. Maria participated in daily mass and recitation of the Holy rosary. She enjoyed walking, crocheting, gardening and cherished time with her family.

She is survived by her children: Rafael Gutierrez, Maria Carlos Gutierrez & Jose Gutierrez all of California and Israel Gutierrez of Umatilla, OR; companion: Jesus Jimenez Ambriz, Umatilla, OR; sister: Margarita Vargas, Yakima, WA; brothers: Tony Montes, Hermiston, OR, Martin Montes, Irrigon, OR and Jesse Montes, Yakima, WA; numerous grandchildren; great grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins.

Maria was preceded in death by her parents. 

A private family burial was held at the Hermiston Cemetery, Hermiston, Oregon.
