Laurie Brown Obituary

Laurie Gaye (Austin) Brown, born February 18, 1954, in Fort Worth, Texas, passed away on March 2, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family and friends. Her life was defined by devotion—to her faith, to her family, and to the many people whose lives she touched with her quiet kindness. Laurie had a rare gift for making others feel like they were the blessing, like they mattered, like they were worth listening to. Her kindness wasn’t loud or showy; it was steady, dependable, and deeply felt.

On September 16, 1973, Laurie married her sweetheart, Steven Brown, beginning a lifelong partnership built on love, commitment, and shared purpose. Together they raised six children—Stephenie, Scott, Elizabeth, David, Aaron, and Tyler—and Laurie poured her heart into motherhood. Her children and grandchildren were her greatest joy. Laurie’s life was anchored in faith and family. She taught seminary with sincerity and compassion, helping teenagers feel seen and understood. She worked at the elementary school with the same tenderness she brought to her own home. And in her kitchen—where cinnamon rolls rose on the counter and meals were made with love—she created a space where people felt safe, welcomed, and nourished in every sense.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Iris Austin; her sister, Alison; her beloved husband, Steven; and her daughter, Stephanie. Though she endured profound loss, she carried herself with grace, resilience, and unwavering faith.

Even as dementia slowly took pieces of her, the core of who she was—gentle, faithful, loving—remained. Her legacy isn’t measured in accomplishments or accolades, but in the people who loved her, the faith she lived, the quiet strength she carried, and the warmth she gave so freely. Her absence will be felt deeply, but her presence—her influence, her love—will continue in the lives she touched.
