Judie Lane (Black) Castellaw

Judie Lane (Black) Castellaw was born the eldest of 4 children to Lane Paskett Black and Melba Lyons Black on December 10, 1934 in Burley Idaho. She was welcomed back to her Heavenly Fathers arms on April 23, 2026. 

Judie had been a resident of Hermiston since 1942 when her parents were brought here for the building boom. She attended Hermiston Schools where she met Eddie, (Edwin Castellaw) while they were in grade school together. This started a life long love and they married in November of 1951. Their oldest child Art, was born in December of 1952, Mike in April of 1955, Sandra February of 1957.
 
Judie was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, with her service starting with a calling as a primary teacher at 12 years old. Always a willing spirit to give service from sewing, canning, gardening, quilting and tending children. She was not vocal about her faith but tried to be an example of Christ.
 
Judie was a community minded person working many jobs in her life. Rexall Drug in high school, Western Auto, Dairy Queen, Thompson Meat, Lamb Weston and was the proud owner of Mode o’ Day. She also provided in-home daycare for many children.
 
Judie was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years Edwin, her oldest son Art in 1971, her sister: JoAnn Sheetz, brother: Dan Black, son in law: Dan Hickey, and her parents. 

She is survived by her sister: Shareen Parkinson, son: Mike (Janeal) Castellaw, daughter: Sandra Hickey, 9 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and 3.5 great great grandchildren.
 
A funeral service will be held on Saturday May 2, 2026 at 11:00 A.M. at The LDS chapel at 1035 SE 9th Street in Hermiston, Oregon with viewing at 10:00 A.M.

Burial will follow at the Hermiston Cemetery, Hermiston, Oregon.
