Jose Delgado Jr.

Jose Delgado Jr. of Hermiston was born October 13. 1945 in Plainview, Texas the son of Jose and Catarina (Garza) Delgado. He passed away at his home in Hermiston surrounded by his family on Friday January 10, 2025 at the age of 79.

Jose lived in Texas until the age of twelve when he began traveling extensively with his father to do migrant labor throughout the United States. The family eventually settled in Pasco, Washington. 

Jose was drafted into the US Army where he served for four years. He served for one year in Vietnam during the war.

Jose married Maria Almaguer in Sunnyside, WA on August 19, 1967. The couple lived in Pasco and Sunnyside, Washington until 1988. They have resided in Hermiston for the past thirty six years. 

Jose enjoyed his work as a machinery operator for several area farms. He retired from farm work in 2010 at the age of 65.

He enjoyed watching the little league world series, the college softball world series, western movies and Hermiston wrestling. He enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and his pride and joy were his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a member of Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church in Hermiston.

He is survived by his wife of fifty-seven years, Maria; sons, Albert, Jose III, Guadalupe and Juan; daughters, Catarina and Cynthia; twenty three grandchildren and forty three great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother and two sisters.

Viewing will be held on Thursday January 16 from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the Burns Mortuary Chapel. Recitation of the Rosary will begin at 6:00 P.M. 

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Friday January 17, 2025 at Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church. Burial with Military Honors will follow in the Hermiston Cemetery.
