Jerry Lynn Stanger of Irrigon was born September 3, 1935 in Lincoln, Idaho the son of Newell and Goldie (McCullough) Stanger. He passed away in Irrigon, Oregon on February 5, 2025 at the age of 89.
Jerry grew up and attended schools in Lincoln, ID where he graduated from Bonneville High School. He then attended Ricks College which was later known as BYU Idaho. He was called to serve in the US Army for two years during the Korean War. After his honorable discharge, he began his work as a pharmaceutical sales representative a job he held for several years. He then returned to school at BYU in Utah where he completed his studies and received his Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.
Jerry’s passion was being an artist but he also worked as a carpenter and operated a small printing and newspaper business in Umatilla for a time. He loved going fishing whenever the opportunity arose.
Jerry married Frances Alene Hale in Neosho, Missouri on May 9, 1954. He was preceded in death by Frances on Dec. 22, 2004. He was also preceded in death by his parents; one brother and two sisters.
He is survived by five children; Alene Crismon, Susan (Swt-H2O) Hiller, Christopher Stanger, Goldie Cubur and Joseph Stanger; 23 grandchildren; many great grandchildren and several great great grandchildren; and a sister, Helen Summers.
A Funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday February 11, 2025 at the Boardman Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (500 Wilson Road SW Boardman, OR). Burial with military honors will follow in Desert Lawn Memorial Cemetery in Irrigon. Burns Mortuary of Hermiston is in care of arrangements.
