Glenn Louis Rohde, 87, of Echo, Oregon, passed away in Portland, Oregon on March 28, 2026, with his loving wife, Joyce, by his side.
Glenn was born July 30, 1938, in Pendleton, Oregon, the son of Eileen Snyder and Peter Jacob Rohde. Glenn graduated from Echo High School in 1956 and then went on to Eastern Washington University. He joined the Army in 1957 and served as a mechanic until his honorable discharge in 1958.
Glenn married Joyce French on March 1, 1958, in Fort Worth, Texas. They were married for 68 years and raised their three children on their family’s wheat farm in Echo, Oregon.
Glenn loved collecting antique cars and bought his first Model A when he was a sophomore in high school. He was a member of Blue Mountain Model A’s car club for 30 years.
For more than 30 years, Glenn served the community in many capacities, including on the Echo School Board and the boards of the Umatilla Electric Co-op and PGG. During the same time, he also cooked for the Echo Quarter Back Club Fish Feed. Glenn loved and sought out ways to support his community.
Known for his fantastic sense of humor, Glenn was loved by his neighbors and friends. He made a weekly trip to Pendleton for coffee with friends and loved cooking. Glenn was generous, kind, and fair man and will be remembered as such by all who knew him.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce Rohde; children, Natalie Lapp, Brett Rohde, and Todd Rohde; grandchildren, Douglas Rohde, Adrienne Ralston, Breanna Rohde, and Bailey Hansen; and great-grandchildren Mason Augustine, Maddox Augustine, Kainen Ralston, Dash Ralston, John Rohde, Derin Rohde, Lidya Rohde, Halle Hansen, and Hazel Hansen.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Earnest, Dean, and Roy Rohde; and his grandson, Cutter Lapp.
A funeral service will be held on April 9, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Burns Mortuary in Hermiston, Oregon, with Pastor Rick Oliver officiating.
A military graveside service will follow at Echo Cemetery.
