Geraldine Elizabeth (Lynch) (Jones) Edwards

Gerry passed away on September 29, 2022 in Kennewick, WA at the age of 92. She was born on November 29, 1929 in Yakima, WA to Thomas and Emeline Lynch. She attended school in Selah, WA and studied Art at Central Washington College in Ellensburg.

In 1950 Gerry married to George “Bob” Jones in Yakima, WA and they had two daughters. They divorced in 1983 and Gerry married Gene “Denny” Edwards in 1986 in Reno, NV.

When Gerry was married to Bob they lived in Edmonds, WA and she worked at a US National Bank in downtown Seattle. When they moved to Hermiston in 1974 she worked at the Payless Drug Store. After she married Denny she ran the Paperback Exchange until she retired. Gerry and Denny met while square dancing. They also enjoyed dancing at the Eagles Lodge in Hermiston. Gerry was a very good artist, winning many awards. She especially liked painting family portraits and scenes with family and pets. Gerry enjoyed traveling to places like the Oregon and Washington coasts, Mexican resorts, the Grand Canyon, Alaska, North Cascades, Banff and Jasper Parks in Canada and to many cities like Reno, Las Vegas, Napa, Missoula, Albuquerque, Madison and Salt Lake City. Gerry also enjoyed planting and tending flowers. 

Gerry is survived by her husband, Denny; daughters, Cheryl Jones of Walla Walla and Janice Jones of Hermiston; brother, Tom (Barbara) Lynch Jr of Selah, WA; granddaughters, Sarah Rutherford of Walla Walla, Melanie Jensen of College Place; and seven great grandchildren. Also surviving are stepchildren, Joe Edwards, Sandy Edwards and Cathy Schindler. Also Denny’s stepchildren Tammy Burkley, Rick Smith and David Smith.

Gerry is preceded in death by her sister, Irene Watkins and by a granddaughter, Christine Rutherford.

A Memorial service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Monday October 10, 2022 at the Burns Mortuary Chapel 685 W. Hermiston Avenue Hermiston, OR. A private burial will be in the Hermiston Cemetery. Burns Mortuary of Hermiston is in care of arrangements.
