Frederick J. “Rocky” Gurr Jr. of Lexington, Oregon, was born on March 17, 1946 in Redding, California to parents Frederick Gurr Sr. and Nellie (Cox) Gurr. He died on January 7, 2022 in Hermiston, Oregon at the age of 75 years. Rocky completed high school and in 1969 he joined the United States Marine Corps. He served until his honorable discharge in 1971. Rocky had several careers during his lifetime, including logging, commercial fishing for over 30 years, truck driver and served as an Assembly of God pastor. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and above all he loved God and his entire family. Rocky’s favorite bible verse (John 3:16): “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life”.
He is survived by his wife: Joann Gurr; son: Michael & wife Kim; daughters: Tami & husband Frank, Joella & husband Larry and Tonya & husband Randy; 13 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.
Rocky was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Marvin.
A graveside service with military honors will be held on Tuesday, January 18, 2022 at 1:30 P.M. at Willamette National Cemetery, Portland, Oregon.
