Edwin "Eddie" Getchell

Edwin “Eddie” James Getchell of Hermiston was born February 5, 1967 in Hermiston, Oregon the son of Gerald and Betty Lou (Bjerke) Getchell. He passed away in Richland, WA on Thursday December 26, 2024 at the age of 57 years. 
 
Ed grew up and attended schools in Hermiston graduating from Hermiston High School in the Class of 1986. He was active in wrestling, football and golf while in high school.
 
After high school, Ed served as a volunteer at the Hermiston Fire Dept for many years. He worked for Hermiston Tire for several years. He later drove truck for local farms until becoming disabled fifteen years ago.
 
Ed enjoyed going to rodeos and following the cowboys who competed.
 
He is survived by his father, Gerald “Jerry” Getchell; brothers, Brian (Chris) Getchell, Brett (Bonnie) Getchell; sister, Jeri Marie Getchell Gossett; several nieces and nephews and extended family members.
 
A Memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday January 11, 2025 at the Burns Mortuary Chapel 685 W Hermiston Avenue. Burial will follow in the Hermiston Cemetery. After burial, guests are invited to New Hope Church for refreshments and hor d’oeurves.

Eddie was preceeded in death by mother Betty Getchell, grandparents James and Margaret Getchell, Ed and Janet Skoubo, Edwin and Gladys Bjerke, and several aunts and uncles.

Family suggest memorial donations go to support the Hermiston Sports Booster Club. Burns Mortuary of Hermiston is in care of arrangements.
