Dorthey Frazier Obituary

Dorthey Ellen Hinkley Frazier, 86, passed away on April 10, 2024 in Pendleton, Oregon. Born in Irrigon, Oregon, she was the 6th of 8 children born to Milo Jacob and Constance Marie Wilson Hinkley. Dorthey was the last remaining child.

Dorthey was raised and attended her 12 years of school in Irrigon, Oregon. After graduating, she went to Paramount, California, to live with her brother, Toby. There, she attended Long Beach City College.

In 1956, Dorthey married Robert Levi “Bob” Frazier in Yuma, Arizona. They had 6 children and managed to remain married for 52 years; until Bob lost his battle with cancer in 2008. Dorthey (dutifully) followed Bob to live in San Jose, California; Parma and Melba Indiana; Kingman, Arizona; College Place, Wenatchee, Cashmere and Royal City, Washington; Ontario, Nyssa, Milton-Freewater and Portland, Oregon. They finally settled in Hermiston, Oregon in 1971.

Dorthey was lineage oriented and began family tree work at the age of 15. She was in charge of the Wilson Family Reunions since 1974. Dorthey was many things in her life. She was a homemaker, child care provider, nurses aide, cashier, waitress and volunteered working with the mentally and physically disabled. Dorthey found time for several hobbies; she was an avid bingo player; crocheted; oil painted on canvas and saw blades; sewed and did all kinds of arts and crafts.  She loved her children (she wrote this, so it must be true), grand and great grandkids…and flowers.

Dorthey Frazier is preceded in death by her daughter, Connie Parker. She is survived by: Robert Frazier II and his wife Tami of Salem Oregon; Milo Frazier and his wife Xia, of Hermiston, Oregon; William Frazier and his partner, Becca, of Taos, New Mexico; Carol Smith of Aiken, South Carolina; and Ian Frazier of Cincinnati, Ohio. She is also survived by 6 grandkids; Jeffery Parker, Amber (Burk) DeRouen, Brian Graybeal, Tonya (Burk) Gordy, Milo Frazier Jr., Jasmine Frazier and Samantha Frazier. Dorthey was proud to have 7 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

A Memorial service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Sunday April 14, 2024 at the Burns Mortuary Chapel. A private interment will be in the Hermiston Cemetery. Burns Mortuary of Hermiston is in care of arrangements.
