Don Caraway Weems, beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 29th, 2026, at the age of 68, in Walla Walla, Washington.
Don was born on November 2nd, 1957, in Torrance, California. He was known for his quick wit, protective spirit, and remarkable ability to make the best of the hand he was dealt. He graduated from Stanfield High School in 1975 and went on to proudly serve his country in the United States Navy, later working as a laborer.
To his family, Don was far more than an uncle—he was a mentor, a protector, and a gifted storyteller. He will be remembered as a gentle giant with a deep voice and an even deeper heart. Don used his immense strength and sharp mind to stand up for the vulnerable, serve his country, and love those around him with resilient, heart-of-gold devotion.
Don is survived by his siblings: brother Kenneth Weems (sister-in-law Karen Weems) and sister Valerie Horton (brother-in-law Richard Horton); his nieces Amy Weems, Christy Weems, Jessica Horton, and Loree Weems; as well as several great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Caraway “Ted” Weems and Eunice Weems.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, February 6th, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. (noon) at the Hermiston Cemetery, at the VFW outdoor shelter.
All are welcome to attend and honor Don’s life and memory.
