Dene M. Platt

Dene M. Platt formerly of Hermiston was born March 16, 1943 in Pendleton, Oregon the daughter of John and Getta (Warner) Johnson. She passed away in Pendleton on May 13, 2025 at the age of 82.

Dene grew up and attended school in Pendleton, graduating from Pendleton High School in the Class of 1961. Dene married Larry Lee Platt in Stanfield, Oregon on August 10, 1962.

The couple lived in Stanfield for many years where Dene worked with her husband at Curly’s Market. She later took a job at Burnham’s Department Store in Hermiston where she worked for several years. She then worked as an Insurance Agent at Simmons Insurance Agency where she worked until retiring in 2009. In the late 1990's the couple moved from Stanfield to Hermiston where she resided until moving to Pendleton two years ago.

Dene loved going shopping, RVing and enjoyed meeting new people. She served on the board for Habitat for Humanity for several years. She was a member of the Hermiston Christian Church for many years and she enjoyed being involved with Women’s Aglow .

Dene is survived by her daughter, Jodi (Mike) Florence; grandchildren, Jacob, Nathan, Jonah, Emma, Ashley and Gingermay; great grandchildren, Eli, Kali, Tatum and Hatti; two sisters, Connie Otis and Sharon Denham; and several extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry in 2021; daughter, Debbie (Platt) Mcmillin; parents, John and Getta Johnson; brother, J.L. Johnson.

A Memorial service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Friday May 30, 2025 at the Burns Mortuary Chapel (685 W Hermiston Avenue, Hermiston, OR). A private interment will be in Pleasant View Cemetery in Stanfield.
