Deann Craven Obituary

Deann Kay Craven, 58, passed away on January 29, 2026, at her home in Hermiston, Oregon. She was born on July 8, 1967, in Yakima, Washington, to Kenneth and Betty “Jeanie” Phipps.

Deann began her early schooling in Yakima before the family moved to the lower valley when she was seven years old. She continued her education in the Wapato School District, where she made lifelong memories and friendships. She later married Dennis Craven, and together they welcomed two sons, Darren and Cody. Though the marriage ended, Deann remained deeply devoted to her boys throughout her life.

A woman known for her strong work ethic, Deann formed lasting friendships everywhere she worked. Her final and most beloved position was with Northwest Livestock Commission in Hermiston, where she felt truly at home among coworkers and animals alike.

Animals were woven into the fabric of Deann’s life. She began riding horses on her own at just two years old. Her first horse, a palomino pony named Cricket, was her pride and joy. Together they entered parades and shows, always returning home with a blue ribbon. Her love for animals continued throughout her life, and her loyal puppy, Pink, was her constant companion.
Deann cherished time spent outdoors and with her family. She enjoyed camping trips with her parents, hiking, snowmobiling, motorcycle rides with her father, days at the beach, attending car shows with her Ford Mustangs, and attending drag racing events. She also had a natural gift for arts and crafts, creating beautiful pieces that are now treasured by friends and family.

Deann was preceded in death by her mother, Jeanie.

She is survived by her father, Kenneth, and his wife, Sunny; her son Darren, his wife Brittnee, and their son Markus; her son Cody and his children, Conner and Macie. She is also survived by her aunt and uncle, Laura and John Haddix, and her cousins, Kimberly and Lindsay Haddix.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Deann’s life at Olney Cemetery, Pendleton Oregon on Saturday, July 11th at 11 AM.
