Daniel "Dan" Bodeen Obituary

Daniel D. “Dan” Bodeen was born on August 23, 1938 in Silverton, Oregon to parents, Harold R. and Nellie L. (Reed) Bodeen. He passed away on January 31, 2023 at his home in Hermiston, Oregon at the age of 84 years. His family moved to Yamhill, Oregon in 1948 where he attended both, elementary and high school. Dan served in the Oregon Army National Guard for 3 years. He worked in saw mills in Valsetz and Elgin, Oregon. Dan later owned and operated a water truck that he used in road construction as well as fighting wildfires in Eastern Oregon and the large fire at Yellowstone National Park. Dan later worked as an equipment operator for Hermiston Rock Products as well as various other places in the area. He married Barbara Benedict on August 20, 1961 and they later divorced. He later married Laverne Wells in 1990. Dan loved his family and helping others. He took great pride in his ability to build or fix things and in his yard. Dan was an outdoors man who loved fishing, hunting, snowmobiling and especially 4-wheeling with his best friend, Mike.

He is survived by his wife of 32 years: Laverne; sons: Ron & Ken; daughter: Dana; stepson: Lee; step daughter: Vicki; sisters: Dee, Verna & Pat; 6 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren and best friend: Mike.

Dan was preceded in death by his parents, a brother: Richard and 2 step sons.   

At his request there will be no service.
