Carolyn Jo (Stentz) Hojaboom

Carolyn Jo Hojaboom of Umatilla, Oregon, was born on March 3, 1939 in Seattle, Washington to parents, William Frank Stentz and Caroline Elizabeth Tinkham Stentz. She died on June 29, 2022 in Hermiston, Oregon at the age of 83 years. Carolyn was raised in Woodinville, Washington and graduated from Bothell High School in the class of 1957. She married Robert Hojaboom Sr in 1959 They lived in the Binghamton, New York area where she worked as a clerk in customer service. In 1991, they moved from Endicott, New York to Umatilla, Oregon where she has lived since. Carolyn volunteered as a cook at the Umatilla Senior Center and as a Grandmother in the reading program at McNary Grade School for several years. She was a longtime member of the Umatilla Presbyterian Community Church, Umatilla, Oregon. Carolyn enjoyed crossword puzzles, playing Yahtzee, Hallmark Movies, crocheting, crafts, flowers, baking and her cat. Grandma was known for her no bake cookies.

She is survived by her son: Robert Hojaboom Jr and his wife Sandy, Umatilla, OR; daughters: Carol Roberts and her husband Wayne, Umatilla, OR and Susan Mills, Binghamton, New York; sister: Betty Johnson, Irrigon, OR; grandchildren: Robert III, Paul, Christopher, Heather, William, Elleanor & Andrew; great grandchildren: Robert IV, Jude, Vincent, Jayvion & Jayceon; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Hojaboom Sr. in 2020, and her parents.   

A celebration of life service will be held on Sunday, July 10, 2022 at 1:00 PM at the Umatilla Presbyterian Community Church, Umatilla, Oregon.
