Bryan Allen Maess of Hermiston, Oregon, was born on May 22, 1970 in Rock Island, Illinois. He passed away on June 1, 2025 in Portland, Oregon at the age of 55 years. Bryan attended Priest River Lamanna High School in Priest River, Idaho. He joined the United States Marine Corps and served his country in the Gulf War. After his honorable discharge he returned home and continued serving his community in law enforcement. Bryan was a sergeant with the Hermiston Police Department. He gave his all and was deeply loved by many.
He is survived by his wife: Marcela Maess, Hermiston, OR; sons: Andres Meza and Sebastian Meza, both of Hermiston, OR, Cameron Maess, Fayetteville, NC; granddaughter: Erin Sandoval, Hermiston, OR; parents: Chuck & Penny Mattson, Laclede, ID; sister: Joyce Reis, Colorado; brothers: Charles and David Mattson, both of Colorado; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Bryan was preceded in death by his son, Anthony Maess.
At Bryan’s request there will be a private graveside service with military honors in Idaho at a later date.
