Barbara R Ackerman

Barbara R. Ackerman of Hermiston was born January 19, 1946 in LaGrande, Oregon, the youngest of sixteen children born to John and Treasa DeFries. She passed away in Hermiston on Saturday November 24, 2018 at the age of 72.

Barbara moved with her family from LaGrande to Hermiston in the early 1950's. She attended school in Hermiston and graduated from Hermiston High School in the class of 1964. After high school, she married Leonard Ackerman on September 9, 1964 in Lewiston, Idaho. The couple made their home in Hermiston where she has resided since.

Barbara’s interests included her family, quilting and cooking.

She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Leonard; children, Kathy Ackerman, Wade Ackerman and Angie Ackerman; and two granddaughters, Britney and Lauren Ackerman; and numerous siblings and extended family members. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Brenda.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday November 30, 2018 at Living Faith Church (1611 Diagonal Blvd Hermiston, OR 97838). Burial will follow in Hermiston Cemetery. Burns Mortuary of Hermiston is in care of arrangements.
