Adelaida “Adela” Nunez Estrada McDonough was born March 24, 1943 in Jalisco, Guadalajara Mexico to Felipe and Mary Estrada.  She died on February 6, 2021 in Portland, OR at Legacy Emmanuel Hospital at the age of 77. She was the second oldest of eleven children.  She migrated with her family to the United States around 1951 and became a US Citizen in 2011.  In the early years she moved with her family to Indiana, Michigan, Texas, and Arizona as they followed the agriculture jobs.  The family moved to Nyssa, OR in 1959. She met Patrick(Tiny) McDonough, they were later married on May 6, 1966.  They lived in the Ontario area until 1974 when they moved to Irrigon, OR where they settled and raised their five children, Monica, Veronica, Patrick, John and Paul. She was able to stay at home until her youngest entered school full-time. She worked at Miller Produce and Oregon Potato before beginning work for the Oregon Department of Agriculture where she worked until she retired in 2016.
Adela was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Patrick.  Adela is survived by her siblings, Janie(Jim) Ruiz, Jose Estrada, Rafael(Bernita) Estrada, Sue Simpson, Vedas(Terry) Crane, Mary Ann(Bob) Hancock, Rosie (Phil) Niemeyer, Henry(Glenda) Estrada, Tony(Candy) Estrada, and Patsy(Kelly) Ward, two loving daughters, Monica(John) Taylor of Rosemount, MN, Veronica(Nelson) Repaci of Port Chester, NY; Three ornery sons Patrick (Darcy) McDonough, Hermiston, OR, John(Heidi) McDonough of Wendell, ID and Paul(Jennifer) McDonough of Hermiston, OR. She was a member of Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church in Hermiston.  She was very passionate about anything related to plants and flowers.  She had the ultimate “green thumb” and could talk for hours about them.  She will be remembered as a sassy lady that did things her own way in her own time.  She will be greatly missed by all of her friends and family.
