Thomas "Tom" S Barton

Thomas (Tom) Suggs Barton passed away peacefully on July 21, 2018 at the age of 92. He was born March 29, 1926 in Booneville, Arkansas, and as a teen moved with his family to California where he graduated from Stockton High School. He married Dorthy Lee Warren on October 13, 1951 in Stockton, CA. In 1952, Tom graduated from the College of the Pacific (now University of the Pacific) with a degree in business administration and continued graduate studies in business education. He taught at Healdsburg High School from 1955-1963 and San Mateo High School 1963-1987. After retiring and moving to Boardman, Oregon, he continued to substitute teach until he was about 80 years old. They moved to Maupin and lived there until recently moving to Pendleton. Tom enjoyed traveling, camping, and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Tom is survived by his wife of 66 years, Dorthy, children Larry (Amy), Cherie (John Griffith) and Randy (Donna), grandchildren Brooke, Bryan, Michelle, Trevor, and Neil, and by 4 great-grandchildren.

Tom was predeceased by his sister Wynona and his parents, Aubrey and Ora (Green) Barton.

Funeral services will be held at the Kelly Cemetery near Maupin, OR on October 6, 2018 at 1:00 PM.
