Terry D. Hiatt, 68, passed away peacefully at home on May 30th following a long and hard-fought battle with Crohn’s Disease for many years.  He was comforted through his faith in Christ, love from family and friends. Born in Pendleton, OR on April 6, 1949 to Frank S. Hiatt and Corrine D. (Walters) Hiatt. He was raised and attended school in Hermiston and later graduated from BMCC in Pendleton.  He had lived in Hermiston, Los Angeles area and Portland, returning in 1983 to live in Irrigon.   He enjoyed working; he had worked for the Portland Job Corps Manpower Center, Americold, Termicold, Gilroy Foods, Oregon Trail Homes, Concrete Special Ties before starting his own business, Fox General Contracting.  He did commercial work for Colorado Structures Inc. throughout the NW, work for Umatilla Electric Cooperative and for local property management.  He did private work as well, many times for the elderly as charity.

He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, wood working, fabrication, fishing, camping, motorcycle riding and being outdoors.  He was an accomplished charcoal artist and primitive painter.

Terry is survived by his wife, Nancy; daughter Becky Russell, Campos, CA; son Joe Hiatt, Boardman, OR; son Tony (Jewlia Quaranta) Hiatt, Chelan, WA; stepsons Kaley (Tianna) Fast, Amity, OR and Cameron (Chantel Forsberg) Fast, Unity, OR and stepdaughter Penny (Paul) Thorne, Prineville, OR.  Brother Dennis Hiatt, Cambodia; Sisters Charlotte (Mick) Lockner, Dallas, OR, Elizabeth (Tim) Pollick, Hermiston, OR and Diana (Ray) Johnston; brother-in-law Dave McKay, Woodburn, OR and sister-in-laws Susan Hurley, Raymond, WA and Karen McKay, Wilsonville; mother-in-law Mary McKay, St. Paul.  His grandchildren Madison, Lauren, Casey, Cheyanne, Dylan, Barrett, Tori, Austin, Audrey, R James and Sutton.  Numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces.  Terry was preceded in death by his parents.

A celebration of life service will be held on Thursday, June 8, 2017 at 1:00 P.M. at Burns Mortuary Chapel, Hermiston, Oregon.

Burial will follow at the Hermiston Cemetery, Hermiston, Oregon.
