Samuel Clay DaVault was born on January 19, 1934 in Elmo Missouri to Lueva Johnston DaVault and Cassius DaVault. He was the fourth of their five children and their only son.
He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1952 and proudly served for 10 years including the Korean War. He was a true Marine until his death and included his military service among his happiest memories.
Sam married Chris Noel Nichols in 1971 and enjoyed 48 years of wedded bliss with the love of his life. Together they raised their three daughters fulfilling his lifelong dream of having a family. Sam spent his life ranching and working as a heavy duty equipment mechanic. He enjoyed working on his land, fishing, hunting, golfing and taking long drives.
Sam passed away September 9, 2019 in his home surrounded by loved ones at the age of 85. He is survived by his wife, Chris DaVault of Oregon, daughter and son-in-law, Tina and Mark Lang of Florida, daughter Ginger Petersen of Montana, daughter Carrie Shilhanek of Oregon and grandchildren; Darien O’Hern, Briley O’Hern, Landon Shilhanek, Maxem Shilhanek and Bennett O’Hern.
A private family service was held.
