Rose M (Stickley) DeChand

Rose M. DeChand of Echo, Oregon, was born on September 14, 1932 in Cheyenne, Wyoming to parents, Rollie and Ethel Holaday Strickley. She died on November 28, 2018 in Hermiston, Oregon at the age of 86 years. Rose was raised in Parma, Idaho. She married James Sexton and they welcomed 4 sons: Robert, Ron, Tony and Billy before they divorced. Rose married Virgil DeChand on April 17, 1971 in Winnemucca, Nevada and she welcomed 5 sons: Bryan, Dale, Leon, David & Gary DeChand along with 5 daughters: Cheryl, Jeanice, Lisa, Diane and Debbie. Rose has lived in Umatilla County for the last 48 years and worked as a nurses aide. She volunteered at the Agape House and had attended the Cowboy Church. Rose enjoyed fishing, gardening, crocheting, Canning, Collecting bells, trips to the Oregon Coast and Wildhorse and chasing after her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by her sons: Ronnie “Ron” Lee Sexton, Tony James Sexton, Bryan DeChand, Dale DeChand, Leon DeChand, David DeChand and Gary DeChand; daughters: Cheryl Wunder, Jeanice DeChand, Lisa DeChand, Diane Espinoza; sisters: Zeta Smith & Ada Sigman; 20 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. 

Rose was preceded in death by her husband of 22 years: Virgil DeChand; sons: Robert and Billy Sexton; daughter: Debbie DeChand; her parents; brothers: Dale & Bud Stickley; sisters: Iris DeChand, Carol Wiley, Anita Songbird & Lucille Stickley; and a grandson: Daniel DeChand. 

A celebration of life gathering will be held on Saturday, December 8, 2018 at 3:00 P.M. at the Hermiston Church of the Nazarene, 1520 W. Orchard Ave., Hermiston, Oregon.
