Patricia “Pat” Jean Otis, longtime resident of Hermiston, Oregon passed away February 18, 2019, in Richland, Washington, at the age of 87.
The youngest of 13 children, Pat was born on April 29, 1931, in Huntley, Montana to Earl Raymond Moots and Hettie Mae Walters. Following graduation from Huntley Project High School, she attended Carrol College Sisters of Charity School of Nursing in Helena, Montana, graduating in 1952.
She was united in marriage to James Otis on August 30, 1953, in Pendleton, Oregon. Pat worked many years for Good Shepherd Hospital in Hermiston, retiring in the late 1980s.
Pat loved to read and could often be found at the local library checking out her next stack of books. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and volunteered many years at the Agape House in Hermiston. Pat enjoyed traveling abroad, gardening, music, golf, bowling, and her daily crossword puzzle. She and Jim also enjoyed many motorhome trips together exploring Oregon and nearby states. Most of all, she enjoyed trips to the Oregon coast with her family around her.
Pat is survived by son, Jeff Otis (Sandy) of Hillsboro; daughter, Geri Dickmeier (Dave) of Hermiston; granddaughters Katie Nunn (Marc) and Hailey Mendenhall (Joe); and great grandson, Wyatt James.
She was proceeded in death by her parents; her husband of 65 years, Jim, and 12 brothers and sisters.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 1, 2019, 1:00 p.m. at the Burns Mortuary Chapel in Hermiston.
