Mary "Helen" Zumwalt

Mary “Helen” Zumwalt was born on January 17, 1932 in Wild Cherry, Arkansas to parents, Steve and Pearl Young Wayland. She died on April 8, 2018 at her home in Hermiston, Oregon at the age of 86 years. Helen was raised and attended schools in Arkansas. She was united in marriage to Dale Zumwalt on July 6, 1949 in Arkansas. They moved to Oregon in 1949 before returning to Arkansas in 1959. In 1967 they moved back to Oregon and lived in Stanfield, Fossil, Mitchell and Lexington before moving to Hermiston, Oregon in 2014. Helen was a stay at home Mom, caring for her children and husband, She was a Sunday school teacher for 40 years and was active in Women’s Ministry and Girls Club. Helen was dedicated to the Lord, her family and helping others.

She is survived by her husband of 68 years: Dale Zumwalt, Hermiston, OR; son: Larry Zumwalt, Tacoma, WA; daughter: Kathy Zumwalt-Smith, Hermiston, OR; brother: Wavil Wayland, Arkansas; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents, son: Ron Zumwalt and 7 siblings: Lois, Darrell, Hershel, Auline, Reamel, Audie and Fred.
     
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at 3:00 P.M. at Burns Mortuary Chapel, Hermiston, Oregon.

Burial will follow at the Hermiston Cemetery, Hermiston, Oregon.
