I always admired Danny. Being the smallest kid in our class, I was picked on & 1 time Danny stood up for me. I will never forget that. Our class lost a great man.

My wife & I graduated in 1971 with Dan. 12 years together, all the way through school.

I hunted & fished with Danny, he had a great bird dog he was proud of. We played football together. For six years Dan & I lined up as right tackle and right tight end, ... offense and defense. Talking to each other like exhausted warriors during and after every play. We had a language all our own. Consoling, praising, lifting a teammate or getting in a visiting teams face.

We worked together, blocking as a double team on offense. Setting picks for each other on defense trying to get into their backfield & get busted in the chops. We swapped mud & blood on the grid iron for sure. And, I must say, we enjoyed each others company in that endeavor. Danny could be counted on and if you ever needed to be supported, ... physically, mentally or ..., audibly, you never had to go looking for assistance. Danny was already in the middle of the sparing. I never saw him back away from adversity and we faced plenty of it together. Patting each other on the back with encouragement.

It hurts to know he is gone. But, having lost people of Danny’s magnitude before, I have come to understand that sometimes there is pain in this old world. That just can’t be changed.

I hope Patti & I will be able to see you all in the spring, at Danny’s Memorial.
