Clarence E Collyer

Clarence E. Collyer of Hermiston, Oregon, was born on February 8, 1929 in Mesa County, Colorado to Bessie Stolze. He died on December 2, 2017 in Hermiston, Oregon at the age of 88 years. Clarence was adopted by James Wesley and Faith Collyer, joining sisters: Patricia and Sylvia. He married Oberta Moore and they had 4 children: Carl, Ron, Judy & Wallace and later divorced. Clarence married Edna Jones on July 11, 1981 in Hermiston, Oregon. They adopted 2 children: Crystal and Bradley and raised a grandson, Jason Collyer. Clarence worked for the railroad, Wood Workers Union and retired as a custodian at the Hermiston High School. He loved visiting with people and could often be seen sitting on his walker in his yard, waving to people as they drove by or talking with others as they walked by. Clarence was a member of the Hermiston Assembly of God, the Columbia Grange and former member of the Eagles Lodge.

He is survived by his wife: Edna Collyer, Hermiston, OR; children: Ron of Hermiston, OR, Judy of Irrigon, OR, Wally of West Richland, WA, Crystal of Kennewick, WA & Brad of Sunnyside, WA; step children: Iris Brood, Emily Mellick, Herbert (Rose) Brood and David Brood all of Hermiston, OR, Ellen (Vern) Scarrow, Bridgeport, NE, Ruth Eddy, Vancouver, WA; special grandson: Jason Collyer; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Clarence was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife Oberta; son: Carl Collyer, daughter-in-law: Beth Collyer; step daughter: Susanna Brood, 3 great grandsons: Andrew, Eric & Zander; brothers: Vernon John & Earl John; sisters: Sylvia Cheatem & Patricia Bittle.   

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 16, 2017 at 12:00 Noon at Burns Mortuary Chapel, Hermiston, Oregon. 

Burial will follow at the Hermiston Cemetery, Hermiston, Oregon.
