Barbara Marshall Obituary

Barbara Elizabeth Marshall began her journey to meet her Lord, whom she loved, on July 24,
2018. A woman of faith, integrity, and conviction, she was deeply loved by her daughter and
grandchildren. Her passing has resulted in an irreplaceable loss for those who knew,
understood, and loved her.
Barbara was born on February 25, 1948, in Watertown, New York, to Roy Bell Marshall and
Winnifred (Zeno). She was the 3rd of 5 children.
Barbara made her way west early in her life with her mother and siblings and settled in Oregon.
She would move to other locations several times to seek adventure & opportunity, but her heart
always brought her home.
Barbara was employed in a variety of professional positions, had many skills, and extensive
knowledge of many different trades. From a cocktail waitressing to millwright, to hotel staff and
potato sheds, she was adaptable and brave. Barbara always found opportunity where she went.
She loved to write and penned a collection of true crime stories over the years. She had a
collection of nearly 60 novels she composed. She talked of publishing adventures but also
desired for the hobby to remain enjoyable for her. Her hands were always busy and she loved to
crochet. Prior to her passing in a gesture of love, Barbara crocheted nearly 100 blankets for
Hermistion’s elderly care homes and donated them to the residents. She also enjoyed
crossword puzzles, wheel of fortune, computer games, country music, dancing, painting her
nails, and drinking iced tea. Extra lemon please! Her natural red hair was a lifelong trademark
and she wore it proudly with beauty and pride.
Barbara’s family was the most important part of her life. Her daughter and grandchildren brought
her the most joy as well as her brother, Billy (William). Barbara was the keeper of her family and
stepped in to become the sole care provider for her older brothers when they became ill later in
life. She served them both with love and compassion until their passing within 3 years of one
another.
Barbara is survived by her daughter, Carla Mae Sanders of Dallas, Or.; son Richard LeClair of
Pilot Rock, Or.; brother William (Billy) Marshall of Pendleton, Or.; brother Robert Marshall of
Dallas, Or.; grandchildren Samuel, Elijah, Kaylinn, and Hudson; and her great granddaughter,
Klohie.
Barbara was preceded in death by mother Winnifred Marshall, and her brothers, Roy Marshall
and Gordon (Gordy) Zeno.
At Barbara's request, she will be placed to rest with her family, in a plot in Hermiston, Oregon,
and no service will be held.
