William "Bill" R Scheel

William R. “Bill” Scheel, longtime Portland, Oregon area resident, was born on February 11, 1957 in Portland, Oregon to parents Ronald and Diane Dodge Scheel. He died on June 27, 2016 in Hermiston, Oregon at the age of 59 years. Bill was raised and attended schools in Portland, Oregon before moving to Irrigon, Oregon in 1973. He married Kathy Burke on June 4, 1977 in Pasco, Washington. To this union two sons were born,  Leon and Ronald. They later divorced and Bill returned to Portland, Oregon. He worked as a commercial and residential painter for Ofstad Painting for several years before he retired. This gave Bill an opportunity to chase his lifelong dream of owning a sailboat. He lived on and refurbished his sailboat in Westport, Oregon for the last several years. Bill enjoyed fishing and his sailboat.

He is survived by his sons: Leon Scheel & his wife Lori, Stanfield, OR, and Ronnie Scheel, , Echo, OR; grandson: Ben; brother: Dan Scheel, Portland, OR; sisters: Kelly Anderson, Cannon Beach, OR, and Kathy Bellant, Gresham, OR; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Bill was preceded in death by his longtime companion: Linda Vlahos and his mother.

A family celebration gathering will be held.
