Oberta "Bert" L (Moore) Smith

Oberta L. “Bert” Smith of Hermiston, Oregon, was born on September 22, 1931 in Loveland, Colorado to parents, John and Lelia Jane Jerome Moore.. She died on July 13, 2016 in Hermiston, Oregon at the age of 84 years. She was raised and lived in Colorado before moving to Oregon in the late 1950's and settling in Hermiston, Oregon in the mid 1970's. Bert worked for Lamb Weston for over 25 years before retiring. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and a foster grandma in the Hermiston School District for several years. Bert enjoyed knitting, cooking (especially holiday meals), church activities, and time with her family.

She is survived by her sons: Wally Collyer & wife Beth, West Richland, WA,  Ron Collyer, Hermiston, OR; daughter: Judy Collyer, Hermiston, OR; sister: Vivian McDowell, Forest Grove, OR; grandchildren: Danielle, Cory, Haydn, Haile, Amanda, Samantha, Bradley, Chrystal, Nichole, Windy, & Aaron; numerous great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Bert was preceded in death by her parents; a son Carl Collyer; brothers: Dayton, Ed, Tom, & Earl; sisters: Wilma, Fern, Marie, & Jane. 

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 23, 2016 at 1:00 P.M. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 1035 SE 9th St., Hermiston, Oregon.

Burial will follow at the Hermiston Cemetery, Hermiston, Oregon.
