Lynn R. Acheson was born on June 26, 1950 in Cottonwood, Idaho to parents, Oliver and Helen Vallem Acheson. He passed away on Friday, May 13, 2016 at his home in Hermiston, Oregon after a valiant fight against cancer at the age of 65 years. Lynn attended Craigmont Elementary, Highland Junior High and High School, graduating in the class of 1968. He attended the University of Idaho and later Lewis and Clark College where he graduated with a degree in criminal justice. Lynn worked as a Nezperce County Deputy Sheriff until joining the United States Army in 1972. He served during the Vietnam War until his honorable discharge in 1975. Lynn went to work for the Department of Defense in security first in California for a short time and then to Hermiston, Oregon. He worked at the Umatilla Army Depot/Chemical Depot until retiring on February 3, 2008 after 34 years to fulfill his greatest desire to become a full time grandpa. Lynn adored his children and along with being an amazing husband, father, and grandpa he had many, many friends. To know him was to love him. He married the love of his life, Paula Carroll on January 28, 1994. They had four sons between them to make their family complete. Lynn was an avid hunter and loved to go to elk camp every year that he was able. He also bowled for many years and taught his sons and grandsons the game. Lynn enjoyed all sports.

He is survived by his loving wife: Paula Acheson; his sons: Nathan Acheson, Spokane, WA, Clayton Acheson (Crystal), Richland, WA, Richie Olea (Amy), Pocatello, ID, Tommy Olea (Maria), Hermiston, OR; former daughter-in-laws: Kayla Acheson, Felecia Olea, and Trisha Greenwood (all of which he considered his daughters); 23 grandchildren; mother: Helen Tweedy, Lewiston, ID; brothers: Gene Acheson, Craigmont, ID, Wiley Acheson, Show-Low, AZ; sisters: Mona Ball, Evanston, WY, and Olivia Sheldon, Clarkston, WA; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.

Lynn was preceded in death by his father and his uncle Walter Vallem who help raise him.       

A celebration of life gathering will be held on Saturday, May 21, 2016 at 1:00 P.M. at the Pheasant Café , 149 E. Main St., Hermiston, Oregon.
