Louis "Lou" Kauhane Nakapalau, born March 24rd 1953 to Emmadine and Solomon Nakapalau of Honolulu, Hawaii, passed away in his home on Friday, January 26th, 2018. He is survived by his daughters Fauna Sorrells of Louisiana, Krista Dressel and family of Nebraska, extensive extended family in Hawaii, and many adopted family across the US. He enlisted in the army in 1968 and completed his service in 1989. He completed his career as a Sergeant First Class. Lou could share stories to fill the day. He had a variety of professions following his career in the army including but certainly not limited to, a peace officer, a ditch rider,a short order cook, and car salesman at Tom Denchel Ford. He served on the Echo City Council and took pride in making a difference in his community. He spent countless hours line judging for volleyball, umpiring for softball, watering the city flowers and feeding the fish at the local pond. Lou had a huge heart and was always looking for ways to serve others in any capacity. He had a way of making you feel special. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He loved his Savior, Jesus Christ and knew that he was a child of God. He will be missed greatly by those who knew the man he really was!
A funeral service with military honors will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at 4:00 P.M. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints Stake Center, 1035 SE 9th St., Hermiston, Oregon.
A private burial will be held at the Hermiston Cemetery, Hermiston, Oregon.
