Joan Patricia (Townley) Greene

Joan P. Greene, longtime Hermiston resident, was born on August 31, 1926 in Weiser, Idaho to parents, Frank and Elaine Johnson Townley. She died on October 15, 2016 in Hermiston, Oregon at the age of 90 years. She was raised and attended schools in Weiser, Idaho. Joan was united in marriage to Virgil L. Greene on December 27, 1950 in Winnemucca, NV. They lived in Weiser, ID before moving to Hermiston, Oregon where she has lived since. Joan worked at the Umatilla Army Depot for a time and then for many years as the bookkeeper for LA Moore Furniture. She enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, rock collecting, her flower garden, and picking huckleberries in the mountains. She was a former member of the Hermiston Eagles Lodge.

She is survived by her sons: Jeff Greene & wife Carol, Hermiston, OR, Gary Greene & wife Sandi, Stanfield, OR; daughters: Janice Gibbs & husband Zane, Stanfield, OR; Debra Hickey, Hermiston, OR; grandchildren: Jeffrey, Cassie, Ryan, Travis, Mateo, Nickola, Thalia, Lindsey, Zane & Chance; 17 great grandchildren; numerous nieces, and nephews.

Joan was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years: Virgil Greene in March of 2015; her parents, and 2 brothers: Jim and Tim Townley.

A celebration of life service will be held on Friday, October 21, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at Burns Mortuary Chapel, Hermiston, Oregon.

Private family burial will be at the Echo Cemetery, Echo, Oregon.
